Entry Requirement: An understanding of organising is assumed and it is expected that people participating in this course have responsibility for comprehensive campaigns.

Aims: Effective campaigning is essential to the growth, visibility and power of the union movement. A major priority of the ACTU Organising Centre is to develop the materials, networks, skills and resources required to ensure those with responsibility to lead campaigners are effective in their roles. The Leading Campaigns course aims to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to establish and deliver large, well resourced, strategic organising campaigns.

Learning Outcomes: At the end of this course participants will be able to:
  • Identify the role of comprehensive campaigning in the context of industry/ sector plans;
  • Clearly distinguish, vision, goal and strategy in campaigns;
  • Apply key research and analysis tools to a campaign;
  • Explore the role and relationship between different elements in a comprehensive campaign;
  • Identify the means to grow, educate and create organisation through the campaign process;
  • Develop and pitch an integrated campaign strategy or plan to win;
  • Identify the role of leadership in campaigns;
  • Develop an operational plan to achieve the campaign goal and strategy in line with resources;
  • Explore the role of leaders in reviewing, recalibrating, pivoting and exiting campaigns.
